Why won't my toenail fungus go away?

Asked 2 years ago

Hi, a piece of my nail started going black and I thought I must have bruised it, bt eventually it went white and soft, and started breaking away. I've tried tea tree drops, soaked my feet in vinegar and water, and tried baking soda, and the fungus just won't go away. It's eating away at my toenail, and I'm worried that I'm not going to have any nail left at this rate. Why is it not going away?

Toenail fungal infections can be notoriously difficult to treat once they take hold and may require constant treatment over several months before seeing an improvement. Topical creams and essential oils may not penetrate the nail deeply enough to root out the infection. If that's the case, you may want to supplement the foot soaks with oral medication to work from the inside. If everything fails, you may need to get laser treatment to eradicate the fungus.
