What is pulse dosing?

Asked 2 years ago

I spoke to someone about a fungal infection I got, and they told me that their son had to go for pulse therapy for their onychomycosis. What does this mean?

Pulse dosing refers to a method of drug administration where the patient takes prescribed medication for a certain time, stops taking it for a defined period then repeats this cycle. For instance, an individual may take antifungal medication for three weeks, stop for two weeks then take it for another three weeks, etc, repeating the cycle until the infection is cleared.
