Is tea tree oil good for your nails?

Asked 2 years ago

Hey guys, I have started putting a drop of undiluted tea tree oil on my toenail due to a fungal infection that has developed. However, I did this without making sure that the tea tree won't weaken my nails. Is it okay to use tea tree oil on my nails without diluting? Tia x

Tea tree oil has powerful antifungal properties. However, it might not be a good idea to use it undiluted, directly on your toenail. The best way to use it is by mixing it with a carrier oil such as olive or coconut oil and then applying it to the affected nail. You may also mix a few drops of tea tree oil and the carrier oil, add it to a foot bath then soak your feet.
