Can I put tea tree oil directly on my toenail?

Asked 2 years ago

Hello, I think I have proximal subungual onychomycosis. I looked it up and it look sabout right. I've got the white spots under my nails and I also have an autoimmune disease and am on various medications. I don't want to risk anything by taking an oral antifungal, I'm looking for a ntural remedy. Hence, tea tree.

Tea tree oil has antifungal properties and some studies have found it to be effective in getting rid of toenail fungus. Generally, tea tree oil is safe to use topically, as long as you mix it with a carrier oil e.g. coconut oil. You can mix several drops of tea tree oil with some coconut oil and rub it on the affected nail.
