What happens when you put baking soda on your nails?

Asked 2 years ago

Hi, I couldn't understand why my toenails were yellow until I realized that I have a toenail fungus. My mom told me that I should use baking soda, but I'm not so sure. What will happen if I mix vinegar and baking soda and put it on my nails? Won't it burn?

A mix of baking soda and vinegar is effective against foot fungus. The baking powder prevents the fungus from growing while the vinegar kills it off. To use this method, mix about 5 tablespoons of baking soda with a cup of vinegar (apple cider vinegar works also) then add enough warm water for a foot soak. Alternatively, you can make a paste of vinegar and baking soda and apply it to the toenails.

Baking soda for toenails fungus is actually a common remedy that's been around for over a century. Vinegar acts as a potent acid which kills off living fungus cells and the baking powder burns the molecules causing the fungus to die off. It wont hurt or sing it will most likely feel a bit tingly at most.
