Can you get rid of toenail fungus with nail polish?

Asked 2 years ago

I'm tired of seeing my yellow nails, I am using treatment, but it's taking forever. Would it be okay to put nail polish on, and what are the odds that it will help to smother and kill the fungus?

It's not okay to use nail polish when dealing with a fungal infection, especially if you are using a topical antifungal cream applied on the affected nails. Nail polish wouldn't smother or kill the fungus. It would actually do the opposite by trapping moisture from the nailbed and providing an enabling environment for the fungi to thrive.
