How To Take A Socially Distant Vacation

Thinking about taking some time out of your busy schedule for a vacation? We all need one after all the panic and financial pressure caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been an extremely trying time, to say the least, but we are still not out of the woods yet. It is still crucial to maintain a safe distance between others, sanitize our hands, and wear a mask when necessary. These regulations will still be firmly in place for a long time and still apply even if you are on vacation.

However, this doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun and enjoy a relaxing few weeks away, it just means that there are a few extra things to think about when planning the vacation and arriving at your destination.

Luckily, we have done the hard work for you and put together a few tips on how to safely enjoy a socially distant vacation. Using some of these tips and keeping your immune system running at full steam with an immune boosting supplement is sure to make this a holiday you and your family won’t forget.

The Road Ahead

How to take a socially distant vacation

Before making reservations for any hotel, guest house, or camp facility you need to first figure out how you are going to get there. Travel is extremely limited at the moment, and some states are not allowing entry from another state yet. Air travel is also off the cards for some states and unless it is for a business trip or urgent family matter, it may be best to stay off a plane for any unnecessary travel. This leaves us with the safest option – a road trip. Decide on whether you want to drive your own vehicle and stay in an accommodation or if you want to rather hire an RV for both the driving and the accommodation.

The second thing you want to think about, especially if you are traveling in your own car is how far you want to drive. Longer trips will require frequent bathroom breaks, which means visiting public bathrooms and potentially exposing yourself to the risk of the virus. Taking shorter trips that are only two to three hours away is the best option because public bathroom breaks are cheaper, and if you are traveling with small children, the journey won’t be as stressful as it would be traveling across the state.

Book All Activities Ahead Of Time

Unfortunately, when COVID-19 entered, spontaneity went straight out the door. Gone are the days of showing up unannounced for a quick bite or swim. Everything must be planned in advance down to the very last activity. This is necessary for most establishments to implement in order for crowd control and adequate social distancing to be observed. Even if you are planning on taking a hike in a state park, making a reservation ahead of time will make things a lot easy and ensure you and your family don’t miss out on the action. Most popular attractions and activities will be filling up quickly so now is the time to start researching and booking.

These are a few fun activities you and the family can do at a safe social distance:

Nature’s Retreat

There is no doubt that a getaway to a 5-star hotel in a magical city is one for the bucket list, however, in these times where social distancing is crucial, turning to nature for a tranquil and spacious retreat gives you the space and fresh air you need to reset your batteries without worrying too much about crowded spaces. State parks, beaches, mountains, national parks, or retreats by the lake or river are some great holiday destinations to choose from that are packed to the brim with fun activities the whole family will enjoy.

Go Self Catering

The best way to ensure that you have the most control over your environment is to look for self-catering accommodation. This way you can bring along your own food, don’t have to rely on hotel staff entering the room for room service or anything else, and it gives you a wonderful opportunity to get the family to bond over cooking and other fun activities.

You can bring along all your supplies from the grocery store as well as disposable cutlery, plates, and utensils, which are guaranteed to be cleaner and makes cleaning up afterward a breeze. Who really wants to be washing dishes on vacation anyway? You can also bring along your own cleaning supplies and disinfectant wipes. This way you can disinfect any surfaces or objects as you wish and gives you more control over creating a safe COVID-19 free environment.

Don’t Arrive Early

If you are set on pampering yourself to a luxurious hotel, it is important to stick to the check-in schedule the hotel has sent you. The hotel staff has been tasked with an enormous job of sanitizing the room from top to bottom including the linen, towels, and every doorknob, button, and decorative piece. Hotels generally stick to strict hygiene protocols on normal days, but this pandemic has forced them to become even more meticulous about the finer details and in order to do this, the hotel staff needs time.

Showing up early to check-in only means that you will have to wait a few hours until you are allowed into the room, which could be spent on doing other things instead. Arriving early to check-in also puts pressure on the staff to get things ready for you quicker, but this could mean that they miss a spot or two, which is not something you want during a global pandemic. The same rules apply for checking out. The hotel staff needs time to get the room clean and sanitized for the next guests.

Don’t Let The Little Things Get Away From You

It is sad to think that every move we make has to be carefully calculated, especially in public spaces. It has certainly built up some anxiety and fear in all of us, but we have to actively make a conscious effort to not let the small but important things slip away from us. There is no reason you can’t enjoy your vacation to the fullest without worrying about whether or not you are exposed to the SARS-COV-2. Planning your trip in advance in a spacious natural retreat in an area close by are just a few things to consider when going on a socially distant vacation. Additionally, you can gain complete control of your environment by visiting a self-catering unit and bringing along your favorite meals and strongest hand sanitizer

In these times we have to learn to adapt to our new surroundings to keep ourselves and loved ones safe even if it means opting for self-catering units, making reservations in advance, and spending most of our free time outdoors enjoying a refreshing hike or on a picnic blanket on the grass.
