How many grams of protein should a cancer patient consume daily?

Asked 2 years ago

I've recently started working as a caregiver, and one of my patients have been diagnosed with cancer. I have been doing some research, and I've noticed many people recommending a high protein diet for cancer patients so I thought I'd try it. How many grams of protein more or less should a cancer patient consume daily?

The amount of protein a cancer patient needs to consume daily depends on their body weight. Generally, they require about 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight daily and the recommended daily allowance for protein is 45-60 grams per day. Have your client spread out their protein intake over several meals instead of taking it all in one meal. Consult a nutritionist as they can help you come up with a feasible diet plan for your client.
