At what point does cognitive decline affect your communication ability, and which part of your ability becomes most affected?

Cognitive decline usually signals a language issue right around the point the disease starts affecting your memory. Your speech becomes slurred, strained, you stop to think about which words to say halfway through a sentence, you cant remember names or cant recall street names if you drive, and often you cant structure sentences properly.
