What is the main cause of aphasia?

Asked 2 years ago

My dad has been diagnosed with logopenic aphasia and will be starting language therapy soon, but overall they say there isn't much that can be done. What I don't understand is what caused this to happen?

Logopenic Aphasia is caused by damage to segregated brain regions, specifically the inferior parietal lobes and superior temporal lobe regions. Aphasia is when the brain shrinks or slowly begins to get slightly smaller as it faces cell death.

Its known however to be a rare or otherwise not often encountered form of aphasia, and is classified as a form of dementia.

Aphasia can be caused by use of narcotics, trauma such as psychological or physical, or use of large amounts of alcohol or simply due to age.
