Can intermittent fasting shrink an enlarged prostate?

Asked 2 years ago

Good evening fellow gentlemen. Do you know if I can shrink the prostate gland by following an intermittent fasting diet?

While some studies suggest that the lower blood glucose levels brought about by intermittent fasting may be related to having a smaller prostate, there's inconclusive evidence to support this. Intermittent fasting, however, does have a range of health benefits and the prostate may benefit as a result. If you're considering any kind of fast, talk to your doctor first and make sure your health allows it.

Fasting to shrink an enlarged prostate is not recommended, more direct treatments or diagnosis is a better option as enlarged prostate glands can be indicators of more serious problems. Some studies suggest it does work, but its more to do with reduction in your bodies blood glucose levels and fasting to shrink an enlarged prostate might work. All things considered, you might consider a doctors visit as a priority.

While intermittent fasting has been found to have a wide range of health benefits, there's weak evidence linking it to shrinking an enlarged prostate. There are better and more direct treatment options out there with proven results that can help an enlarged prostate get better. These range from medicinal options to natural or herbal alternatives. Perhaps it would be better to have a discussion with your doctor about the available treatment options for an enlarged prostate.
