Does vitamin A deficiency cause dry scalp?
Asked 2 years ago
I have a vitamin A deficiency, an extremely dry scalp, and dandruff. Its' been incredibly itchy, and even when I try to use a treatment or hair shampoo and conditioner designed to nourish a dry scalp, it doesn't go away. Could it be the vitamin A deficiency?

Yes, a vitamin A deficiency could lead to a dry scalp. Vitamin A helps cells in the body to function well and also helps skin glands to create sebum. Sebum, in turn, helps keep the scalp and hair moisturized and healthy. While vitamin A is vital to the body, try and keep within the recommended daily intake as too much of the vitamin can cause hair loss and toxicity.
